Dr. Salvador Fernández DC

Doctor

Dr. Salvador Fernández DC, was born in Humacao, Puerto Rico the 20th day of October 1992. Being raised in a beach community he was drawn to water sports such as swimming and surfing at an early age. At the age of 6 he also began practicing martial arts at a competitive level. From 2007 to 2009, he represented Puerto Rico at the U.S. Open of Martial Arts in Florida, as well as the Kumite Classic in Pennsylvania. He was a finalist in multiple categories of each of the competitions. During his junior and senior years of high school he also competed in varsity swimming, and became team captain. In retrospect, the responsibilities of balancing academics, sports and other extracurricular activities, contributed greatly to the development of leadership skills, as well as maintaining a well-rounded lifestyle.

During a martial arts sparring session, he suffered a shoulder dislocation, which limited his ability of participating in all the sports he was currently involved in. He decided to seek treatment with his family chiropractor, Dr. Armando Alvarez, D.C. The number of common interests regarding martial arts, weightlifting and fitness in combination with a full recovery of his injury, sparked the desire of becoming a chiropractor himself. He was kind enough to offer mentorship and guidance. During that time, he has shared valuable information regarding numerous approaches to treatment and the requirements to excel in this field. At that time, he knew that was the profession he would pursue moving forward.

He obtained Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, pre-medicine from the “Universidad del Turabo” in 2015. After graduation, he worked as a bartender and waiter, while awaiting the application process for Chiropractic School.

In 2017 he began his Doctorate Degree at Palmer College of Chiropractic, Florida Campus. Aside from the curriculum he completed multiple seminars with Motion Palpation Institute, The Surfing Movement Masterclass with Hurley and the World Surfing League Medical Panel, two extremity adjustment technique and treatment seminars and FAKTR Rehabilitation Systems. During his last two quarters of Student Clinic, he participated as a Clinical Rehabilitation Intern. The skills obtained throughout his education made him proficient in diagnosing, numerous spinal and extremity adjusting techniques, active care and rehabilitation protocols.

Although he enjoys treating every patient ranging from pediatrics to geriatrics, he has a special interest in working with athletes, sports performance and rehabilitation. His practice is strongly based on evidence-based care. His patient-centered approach, helps address each of his patient’s goals in order to make his treatment as efficient as possible. He strives to provide the highest quality care to patients with every visit, but also educates and provides the tools, guidance and strategies for self-care that they require, in order to get them back to living the healthy and active lifestyle that everyone deserves to enjoy.
